Devoted subjects of Maria Teresa of Austria (but also of the King of Spain or Napoleon when Milan was under their rule), the Galliari brothers (Bernardino, Fabrizio and Giovanni Antonio) with their sons and grandsons consolidated their own reign in the world of the theatre, occupying it like an authentic dynasty.
Painters, fresco artists, stage architects, decorators, costume designers, the Galliari family fashioned the image of Milanese stages over half a century: they were the ones to sign the scenography of the opera which inaugurated La Scala in 1778: Europa riconosciuta by Antonio Salieri.
