After training in Pietro Tosi’s historic costume school (she was his assistant on Visconti’s sets), Vera Marzot (Milan, 1931–Rome, 2012) undertook extremely personal research that led her to become an outstanding figure in Italian theatre and film. Her costumes were enlivened by constant colour metamorphoses, combinations of different fabrics, painstaking research in details. At La Scala her sense of elegance was testified by performances such as Aida, Fetonte, Guglielmo Tell, Oberon, Lodoïska, Tosca, designed with Luca Ronconi.
This book, for the first time, also presents extremely refined paintings executed by Vera Marzot in recent years.
